HOME ENERGY AUDIT
Executive Summary:
This energy audit was conducted on July 21, 2018. The inspection to all of the
functional and operating equipment is done, and it is found out that lighting and ventilation
can be further enhanced and this is further discussed below.
Introduction:
Energy management is an important step that every energy consumers should make,
better energy cost saving and upgrades to energy efficient devices or be it just a wise way to
save energy is a thinking and practice that each of us should reconsider.
Facility Description:
A 150 square meter house located at Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City is subjected to
energy auditing. The equipments found and being audited is presented below:

Equipment Quantity Energy Consumption(W)

Refrigerator 1 200
Washing machine 1 700
Rice Cooker 2 700
Lightings 13 60
Electric stand fan 7 55
Electric wall fan 3 60
Television 2 130

Audited energy consumption analysis:

From the pie chart above, the leading energy consumer among the equipments is the
lightings followed by the rice cooker and refrigerator and electric stand fans. This is caused
by inefficient way of using such equipments. Some rooms found in the house are not
ventilated and lack windows for air and natural sunlight passages leading to more
consumption of lighting and fans in daylight. Proposed energy management for the audited
consumption is listed as follows below.

EMO (Energy Management Opportunities):

 Implement usage of efficient light bulbs, and windows for not ventilated rooms.
 Use of dirty kitchen or electric stove on daily basis to minimize consumption of
electricity.
 Spend more time in the living room in daylight to prevent scattered and multiple
usage of electric fans in each rooms.

HOME ENERGY AUDIT

I. Executive Summary:

On July 22, 2018, an energy audit is conducted at Mamucay’s residence. The inspection
of all the energy consuming devices is audited for further possible energy consumption
enhancement. Through the energy audit conducted a final report consisting of the possible
measures for lowering the energy consumption and changes of the lightings and ventilation
for efficient and comfort of the households.

II. Introduction:

One of initial steps for an effective energy cost control program is the base line energy
assessment, which examines the pattern of existing energy usage by the any house or
facility. This energy auditing will set the reference point for improvements in energy
efficiency. Energy efficiency can improve the existing energy usage and benchmarking of
every individual section such as area, sub-area and the industry.

Energy efficiency saves money. Improving the lighting and ventilation practices could
easily save 20 to 30 percent of your home’s energy bills, and possibly much more. A properly
insulated home will use less electricity in the summer for air conditioning. Improved lighting
and using CFL bulbs, energy star appliances and many other ways of reducing your electric
load will decrease your utility bill significantly.

III. Facility Description:

Equipment Quantity Energy Consumption(W)

Refrigerator 1 250
Washing machine 1 700
Rice Cooker 1 500
Fluorescent Tube 3 9
Light bulbs 4 13
Stand fan 2 50
Ceiling fan 2 65
Flat Iron 1 800
Television 1 130

Energy Consuming Equipments

House Area: 60 square meter

Number of occupants: 6 house members

The following energy consuming devices are listed above with its each
corresponding energy wattage and quantity, this data along with some considerations such
as the number of students in the residence household is taken into account upon the
suggesting of the energy management opportunities applicable and best suited for the
residence.

IV. Audited energy consumption analysis:

Audited energy consumption

6%
Washing machine
4%
Rice Cooker
6%
2% 44% Fluorescent Tube
2% Light bulbs
Stand fan
Ceiling fan
22%

9% Television

From the pie chart above, the leading energy consumer among the equipments is the
refrigerator followed by the rice cooker and refrigerator and washing machine. Also during
the auditing there are areas lacking of ventilation and lack windows for air and natural
sunlight passages which leads to inefficient consumption of lighting and fans in daylight. The
use of fluorescent tube contributes low in the energy consumption but is not ideal for
studying at night, better lightings can be reconsider for both cost saving and comfort of the
occupants. The use of rice cooker on a daily basis is also the big contributor on the bill of
energy per month. Lists of proposed energy management measures for the audited
consumption are listed below.

V. EMO (Energy Management Opportunities):

 Implement usage of efficient light bulbs such as CFL bulbs for better illuminations,
and windows for not ventilated rooms.

 Use of dirty kitchen or electric stove on daily basis to minimize consumption of

electricity that the rice cooker consumes.

 Spend more time in the living room in daylight to prevent scattered and multiple
usage of electric fans in each rooms.
