GEOTECHNY………………………………………………………………………….3
EXAMPLES OF THE GEOTECHNICAL APPLICATION INCLUDE……………..4

INTRODUCTION
Geotechnics is the branch of Engineering that deals with the study of the interaction
of buildings with the land. It is therefore a discipline not only of Civil Engineering, but also
of other activities, such as Architecture and Mining Engineering, which are directly related
to the terrain.
Geotechnics covers the fields of soil mechanics and rock mechanics, and many
aspects of geology, geophysics, hydrology and other related sciences. Geotechnics is
practiced by engineering geologists and geotechnical engineers.
Part of the applied geology that studies the composition and properties of the most
superficial area of the earth's crust, for the seat of all kinds of constructions and public
works

• The application of the mechanics of soils, rocks and groundwater for the design and
expected performance of earth structures, such as dams
4
• The prediction of design and performance of the foundations of bridges, buildings
and other artificial structures in terms of the underlying soil and / or rock, flood
control and prediction

CONCLUSIONS
For the study area a geotechnical description of the most frequent landslides is
carried out.
The parameters of resistance (cohesion and friction) for the different lithologies
have been obtained as a result of a bibliographic review.
