Labour Laws for Managers

Programme Director
P K Padhi Venue
XLRI Jamshedpur
Introduction
Labour Laws and the legal system has a pervasive impact on all industrial
establishment, may it be, in the private sector or the public sector. Decisions of HR/
Marketing/ Project / Legal or any other executives working in the establishment
dealing with workmen frequently raise issues which should be carefully evaluated
as to their legal consequences before they are implemented. The failure to
appreciate these legal implications can lead to serious damage, if not disastrous, to
the organization where they are working. The intention of having this Management
Development Programme is to provide a platform where the participants would be
given practical inputs, especially, regarding management of labour, legally and
efficiently. We would also focus on the identification of the risk involved and the
insulation to these risk factors. It will be a platform where the participants would be
given inputs regarding compliance, managing contract labour and outsourcing.

Objective
1. To understand practical aspects of labour laws which are applicable to the
organization where they are working
2. To help the participants in creating a risk matrix after identification of labour
issues in their respective companies, and provide techniques to insulate these
risks.
3. To deal with important legal issues while managing labour.
4. The participants would be provided techniques to deal with the situations
