SHIRK and OGSS:


Research grants. Submit a description of project (for shirk)- for ogs just a proposal-

2 main aspects: to study the pieces in term of the form; 2nd part: the cultural aspect

HOW TO BEST SET-UP AN APPLICATION:


-ask in advance!
-Fire off a email asking for a reference letter.
Ecouraged, you did your best for, and you got the best marks. That person becomes a potential
reference.

Send them a note, saying, I’m thinking of applying for OGS, shirk, would you mind being a
reference for me?
Good idea to ask Fred and ensemble director (Andrew) to be a reference for me.

Point number 1:
-Determine requirements; determine deadlines. Determine LOCAL deadline (uottawa’s). Speak
with colleagues and director of grad studies (moore)
-make calendar of tasks (deal with reference, date to receive transcripts)
-make a list of grad schools you’d list on your application.
-asks for a small description of what I’d like to do in grad program. Put it away, come back to it.
Discuss it with colleagues and professors. Show to thesis advisor.
-program statement: takes time!
-more specific you are, the more likely you’ll receive the $$. Send to referees, once they’ve
seen this when writing their reference letter.
