Unit Summary:
This unit examines how the first decade of the 20th century fundamentally altered American life. Students will be exposed to America’s
changing role on a world stage. Students will meet the dynamic personality of Theodore Roosevelt. Students will examine images showcasing
early 20th century American society, and will place developments in regulation in the context of said society. Students will also be introduced
to developments in rights and protections of workers, consumers, women and African-Americans during this period. Through the course of
this unit, students will complete deliverables ranging from guided notes on early 20th century foreign policy to a role-playing exercise on
major Progressive Era figures.
