The legend of Manarmakeri

It has become a tradition passed down through generations that Papuans have so much

folklore and legends that live with them. the story is preserved from generation to generation

through the ancestors or chiefs to the next generation, unlike the case with the ancient Greek

society, which they write their stories down on paper. Therefore, there is a difference between

a story possessed an area, with the other. For example, certia Manarmakeri that comes from

the Biak Noemfoor with from areas Samber beach in Biak. Curious?

Once, in the area Samber beach, there lived an old man named Manarmakeri. The old

man suffering from a skin disease all over his body. The disease makes himself shunned by

locals. They refused to stay a village with Manarmakeri. As a result, Manarmakeri was living

separately with the other residents. Then he thought of ways how he can survive. Manarmakeri

then he could make the garden planted with vegetables and other foodstuffs. Because the
residents refused to coexist with Manarmakeri, he was only able to enjoy the harvest itself.

When he wants to hang out with the rest of the population, they reject it, because the people

are disgusted with the skin disease suffered by Manarmakeri.

However, Manarmakeri never despair. He always tries to somehow so that he can get

along with people. At one point, Manarmakeri a walk on the beach samber, while enjoying the

beautiful scenery, she was fast asleep. When he awoke, suddenly Manarmakeri was surprised

to see a group of very beautiful woman was bathing in Kapasasi (a combination of fresh water

went back to his wife and child. They were both amazed, saw the figure Manarmakeri which

has turned into a figure of a handsome, dashing, and clean. Manarmakeri went up on the boat

leaves his wife and children. He said, "Some day I will return and welfare of village life ..."
