Question 1
Explain clearly what you understand by: Summative and Formative Test and School Based
Assessment. Clearly explain with relevant examples.

Question 2
Briefly explain the Integrative Approach to language testing. Clearly describe how you as
the class teacher would use this approach in your classroom. Your answer should include the
different skills to be tested and this approach is applied to test each of the skills. Also an
example of the marking/scoring rubrics must be included for each skill.(one example per skill
is sufficient).

Question 3
Mr. Zek is a firm believer that tests should short and simple. After having completed Unit 4 of
his reading comprehension lesson, he decided to test his student’s knowledge on reading
comprehension. He informed the students the date for the test and also provided them a
brief outline of how the test would be carried out. However Mr. Vik did inform his students
that he will be marking their answers by looking at their overall response to the questions.
He also warned them not to ask for their marks as it is for him only to know where they stand
in his class.
Referring to the extract above:
a. What is the scoring method which Mr Zek is planning to use? What are some
of the strengths and weaknesses of Mr. Zek’s classroom assessment in relation to
scoring and grading.

Question 4
Compare and contrast language assessment undergone by during and after KBSR
giving the advantages and disadvantages between the two(during and post KBSR).
Your answer must be supported with some evidence or examples.
