Pedagogy
The learning activity will not only reflect the students future career
goals, but it will allow them to share why they want that job/career
and persuade others to believe why their selected job/career is the
best. This lesson will allow students to understand and apply
expository and persuasion into writing. The teacher will review these
styles of writing and what they entail by providing examples.
Students for homework must research their preferred job and list
their reasons for their choice. The student will essentially create a
virtual story book of “When I Grow Up” on the following website
https://www.storyjumper.com/
On the website the student will create their “When I Grow Up” book
sharing the following information:
 What their selected job/career is
 Describe the job/career
 Why they want to be what they selected
 Why they believe their job/career is the best
 Technology
Name of the device and/or programs
being used. (The description of what
the students will be doing with the
technology will be included in the
pedagogy/activity section).

Internet. Etc..

Before you submit, delete the explanatory text (the text in small italics).
The technology used for the assignment is a website called Story
Jumper. Link followed: https://www.storyjumper.com/
This will allow the students to make a virtual story book with pictures
and text to share their “When I Grow Up” plans.
1. Fist open the internet
2. Type in the URL https://www.storyjumper.com/
3. When at the website, select “Create Book”
4. Pick type of book “Blank”
5. Create a Title Page with the “Big Text Box” including the title
“When I Grow Up” and your first and last name below
6. Select the next blank page to begin answering the require
questions in instructions
7. Each page should fully answer and reflect the question and
include props and scenes to personalize the book
8. When finished, select “Save Book” on the top right of the
website screen
9. To save the Book, you must create a log in; create a
username and password of your preference
10. Then hit “Share” and copy the link to your work and send it
via email to dhigg003@odu.edu
