Web 2.0 Tools to Support Collaborative learning
2. With SOL 3.3 in Social Studies, students will review exploration of the
Americas by
describing the accomplishments of Christopher Columbus, Juan Ponce de
León, Jacques Cartier, and Christopher Newport. In groups of 4, each
group assigned an explorer, they will upload pictures of the explorer and
country they are from as well as give reasoning for the explorer’s travels
and achievements.
3. In SOL 6.4 in Reading, students will read and learn the meanings of
unfamiliar words and phrases. Focusing on figurative language that can
be used in texts, students will create their own simile, hyperbole, and
metaphor. Students can be creative and post one of the three, and as a
class, we will identify the which figurative language aspect is used and
which is the most unique.
4 Positives and 3 Positives: 1. It has a profanity filter so you can turn that on to change
challenges of bad words into “nice emojis” 2. Viewers can comment on each other’s
using the tool posts 3. You can give reactions to the posts such as: Grade, star, upvote,
or like posts 4. Padlets can be private and made public if made so as well
as be used on smartphones and tablets.
Challenges: 1. You can only create 3 Padlets for free in the “Basic
Membership”
2. Too many options to edit the Padlet when creating it could be
distracting to students
3. Contains ads
