Roma is extremely rich in history and culture. Its extraordinary monuments make it an open-air mu-
seum: churches, historic buildings, architectural works, make the city one of the most fascinating in the
world, for centuries the true cultural center of the country. Its great historical tradition has influenced,
and still affects, the Western world. The ancient ruins such as the Forum and the Colosseum testify the
power of the ancient Roman Empire. In the Vatican City, home of the Catholic Church, are St. Peter’s
Basilica and the Vatican Museums, which house masterpieces such as the Sistine Chapel frescoed by
Michelangelo.

Hans Tropper Memorial Lecture
The first Hans Tropper Memorial Lecture was held in the 8th IEEE International Conference on Conduction and Break-
down in Dielectric Liquids in Pavia, Italy in 1984. It has since become a tradition of the ICDL conference series. The
memorial lecture of the 20th International Conference on Dielectric Liquids will be held at the University of Roma “La
Sapienza” in 2019. The speaker of the lecture is to be announced.
