SSC GD Constable Selection

Process and syllabus


The Staff Selection Commission has recently released notification to recruit
General Duty (GD) Constables in the paramilitary forces of India. A total of
54953 vacancies has been released through the notification. The
online SSC GD Constable Application form fill up will start from 17th August
and last till 17th September 2018. The exam date for SSC GD Constable
has not yet released. So, let’s have a look at the selection process of SSC
GD Constable. Also, as the exam is nearing, do not forget to take the SSC
GD Constable Mock Test 2018.

There are mainly 4 stages in the selection of SSC GD Constable:

Online Computer Based Test: This test consists of 4 subjects, Reasoning


Ability, General Awareness, Numerical Ability and English/Hindi. There are
total 100 questions asked in the exam each carrying 1 marks, making the
exam a total of 100 marks. Each section carries 25 marks. The total
duration of the exam is 90 mins.
Physical Standard Test: This is a test of your physical measurements. For
Men, the minimum height required is 170cm and for women the minimum
height is 157cm. The weight of a candidate (both male and female) should
be according to the height, age and medical standards. The Chest size in
males should be 80cm (unexpanded) and 85cm (Expanded). For female,
chest size it is not applicable.
Physical Efficiency Test: This is the test of your endurance. You will have to
run your way through in this test. You have to run a race to pass this test.
For candidates who are from Ladakh region, you will have to run for 6 kms
in 6 and a half min (for male candidates) and 800mts in 4 mins (for female
candidates). For candidates belonging to other regions, you will have to run
5 kms in 24 mins (for male candidates) and 1.6 kms in 8 and a half mins
(for female candidates).
Medical Test: This is a test of your eyesight. In case of Uncorrected Visual
Acuity, the distant vision of the Better eye should be 6/6 and for the worse
eye it should be 6/9. In case of a Visual Acuity Unaided, the near vision for
the better eye should be N6 and for the worse eye it should be N9. Visual
Correction of any sort is not permitted even with glasses. Colour vision
should be CP-2.
