Pedagogy
The objective of this lesson is for students to examine shapes that are
cut in 1/2. Also, Students cut shapes into 1/2.
The teacher will first provide a brief introduction into the definition of
halves, and how it can be written as a fraction. Students will then be
able to use this SMART Notebook lesson to shade or identify the
halves of different shapes. First student volunteers will be asked to
identify which of the provided shapes show halves. They will check
mark on the appropriate shape to identify . Next, students will work
on cutting the shapes in halves in the next half of the assignment.
Volunteers will use the pen tool on SmartBoard to cut the pictures in
halves and demonstrate to the whole class. Lastly, we will extend our

knowledge of halves by working on the worksheets provided by the

teacher to reinforce the concept learnt on SmartBoard.
