in the United States with about 610,000 people dying each year. (1 in every 4 deaths)
b. Heart disease generally is a condition that affects the heart and blood vessels, which
can result in restricted blood flow. There is a numerous amount of heart disease
problems, many of which are related to the process called atherosclerosis.
- Atherosclerosis: “a condition that develops when a substance called plaque builds up
in the walls of the arteries. This buildup narrows the arteries, making it harder for
blood to flow through.”
