Description This course is designed for the new MicroStation user and builds a solid foundation in the
concepts, tools and features found in the MicroStation drawing environment. In this hands-
on course, you are already using MicroStation by page four of the course guide. Starting
with setting up a drawing and concluding with plotting, you walk through a typical workflow
using the tools and features of the latest version of MicroStation. Interspersed throughout
are real-world design problems solved using the concepts learned to that point in the
course. Various engineering disciplines are represented in the form of hands-on exercises.
This offering is taught using MicroStation V8i.

development, and deployment of MicroStation VBA macros automating fundamental
operations in MicroStation
Description This fundamental level course teaches design engineers, engineering technicians, project
managers and support personnel to develop their skills in the creation of a new road design. It
will also teach a user to use MX for redesign, resurfacing, reconstruction or re-alignment on an
existing road as part of a road improvement scheme.

Description This advanced-level course teaches design engineers, engineering technicians, project
managers and support personnel who have several years of experience designing road and
other linear schemes with MXROAD or the MXROAD Suite to further advance their skills and
expand their use of MX functions.
Target Audience: This three-day course provides advanced use of interactive functions in
MX software for the experienced user, relevant to highway design. This will enable engineers
to operate the system confidently and provide good understanding of some of the advanced
functions in design like interchange, visibility checking, advanced earthwork design and
drawing production.

This intermediate level course introduces the principles of using Bentley Rail Track to
complete a typical rail design project . It includes laying parallel track and designing
completely new/green field railway projects. This course focuses on track design, including
cant and turnouts. It includes discussion on horizontal and vertical regression techniques to
reestablish existing track alignments from an existing track survey. This course also covers
ballast design and earthwork manipulation in detail.

The standard water distribution training class begins with the basics of hydraulics theory as it
applies to water distribution modeling, then takes students through more advanced topics,
such as working with multiple scenarios, model calibration, pump selection, energy cost
studies, extended-period simulation, and fire flow analysis. Students become familiar with
WaterGEMS, and use the software to reinforce concepts with workshop problems. Additional
days cover advanced water distribution modeling software tools for automating system
calibration and design, pump scheduling, and model skeletonization.

This class includes discussions and hands-on workshops on capacity analysis, rehabilitation,
new system design, and master planning for wastewater collection systems. Students
complete hands-on exercises using SewerCAD software. Both steady-state and extended-
period simulations are presented, as well as gravity and pressure system components. The
material also covers SewerCAD’s automated design tool for rehabilitation and new
developments, including comparing the feasibility of multiple design alternatives using cost
estimation tools. Attendees learn to customize plan and profile sheets, tabular reports and
sanitary and wet-weather loadings. Discussions also show how to utilize existing geospatial
and database information to build and populate models.

Course Description
Description This course is designed for the piping designer or drafter new to the AutoPLANT 3D Plant
Design applications. Using the Administrator utility the student first creates a new project to
collect design data from the Equipment and Piping models. A introduction to specifications
gives the student a basic understanding of how specs are generated and edited. Using
AutoPLANT Equipment, the student defines a Work Area to include reference drawings
used during placement of vessels and pumps. Once the equipment is place the student
uses AutoPLANT Piping to route a complex system of pipe. Once the model is complete,
deliverables including fully dimensioned and annotated plans and sections are produced.
Import/Export utilities are used to create isometric drawings from exported line data to the
ISOGEN interface.
