Note 2: Due to the nature of mechanical devices, the lifetime of the fans is 10 years. They therefore need to be replaced as part of a 10 yearly
maintenance plan. The quoted MTBF figure is not valid outside of this 10 year period.
Note 3: Where items use SFPs the MTBF and power consumption figures are based upon no SFPs fitted.
The lasers used on the optical cards are compliant to the values listed in the appropriate table below taken from G957.(06/99)

Note 5
Key: Notes:
1 -– Normal modeDefault power output set to –0.8dBm. (default)
2 -– For input powers less than –30dBm the maximum power output decreases by nominally 1dBm for every 1dBm below –30dbm threshold, therefore this
Connector mating pair reduction must be taken into account when configuring the preamp output power. Thus, for example, should the input power be –35dbm then the Ppreamp
output power must be configured below approx. –5 dBm reduced via LCT configuration if input power falls below –30dBm
3 –- G.709 FEC enabled and to guranteee OSNR
4 –- G.709 FEC disabled (STM-64 mode and no G.707 FEC)
5 -– DCF requirements are specified in section Error! Reference source not found.1.2
6 –Output power for STM-64 UJE/ULJE applications should be configured as low as the link requires and not above +17dbm
7 – Includes worst case stability
8 – Does not include link path penatly
In order to achieve V/UJE and ULJE 64 applications, additional dispersion compensation is required to be installed as part of the link. This
section specifies the DCF requirements for these applications using the target distances and booster amplifier output powers. The following
assumptions are made:
OMS1664 OTM/STM-64 Amplifiable card and Amplifier cards used at both ends of the link:
o 2000ps dispersion tolerant receiver
o Chirped transmitter
