 ABSTRACT

Nowadays, computer application software became part of education. Most

of school assignments, projects, researches, dissertations etc. can be done

through the use of Computer Application Software. Microsoft Office Application

was developed to transmit office word, educational materials and practice

systematically in school and university faster with higher quality.

This study, “The Benefits of Microsoft Office Application to students”

sought to answer the following questions: (1) Why students use Microsoft Office

Application? (2) What is the level of benefits of Microsoft Office Application to

Students in terms of: 2.1 Computation 2.2 Documentation 2.3 Presentation 2.4

Publishing.

Descriptive research design used to describe characteristics of “what is”,

so survey method are frequently used to collect descriptive data.

Most of the Senior High Students use Microsoft Office Application for

making documents. The benefits of Microsoft Office Application in terms of

Documentation, Presentation and Computation are very helpful while Publishing

is not really helpful. The most use Microsoft Office Application is MS Word

INTRODUCTION

Technology is prevalent in our society and there are many emerging

application nowadays. Therefore, for that reason, the researchers wanted to

know the Benefits of Microsoft Office Application to Students. Application

Software is a program or group of program designed for end users. These

programs are divided into two classes: System Software and Application

Software.

Respondents are the students who use Microsoft Application Software. It

could be grade 11 and 12 senior high students of PINHS.

The advantages of Microsoft Office Application are that they make our

paper work easily to publish. They meet the exact needs of the users. Since they

are designed specifically with one purpose in mind, the user know the he has to

use one specific Microsoft Office Application to accomplish his task.

Users have many benefits of using Microsoft Office Application. This

includes word processing, data base, multimedia and editing. Doing

assignments, presentation, documents and competition. The Microsoft Office

Application can help them to do it easily.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Nowadays, in the world of technologies, things are done easily. Millennial

students are now exposed to computer. There are many emerging application

software and as the time goes by, developers improves its function. Application

Software is really helpful as it makes work easier and faster. And that is one of its

benefits. Since most of the students are the people ware commonly uses

Application Software, the researchers conducted survey about the Benefits of

Microsoft Office Application to Students of Plaridel Integrated National High

School.

Halim (2014) showed that Application Software are responsible for the

efficient functionality of computing devices. Application Software is a program

designed of users. These programs are divided into two classes: System

Software and Application Software.

Student’s foe the impact of Microsoft Office Application to the way they do

their homework's and presentation. They can use Microsoft Application in their

studies.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

According to Trisha (2015). Microsoft Office also known as MS Office, is a

popular software suite featuring many desktop publishing programs. It comes

with everything that may come into use in a classic office setting, hence the

name. Computer users have the option of several different Microsoft Office suites

intended for students, home users, small businesses and corporations. What you

choose depends on your own circumstances.

According to N.A (2018). Microsoft’s Student Advantage Program provides

free downloads of the full version of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel,

PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, Access, etc.) for all students in

Broward County Public Schools, for use on their personal and mobile devices

(Android and iOS). The Student Advantage program helps ensure students have

access to the tools they need to be successful in their education and are

prepared for the technology skills required in the workforce.

According to Sharma (2017). Microsoft word is an important education

application. It is important to process raw facts into meaningful information.

Microsoft word can benefits teachers and students to create new innovative

methods of learning and teaching. Microsoft word and Microsoft office suite for

students help to transmit educational materials and practice systematically in

school and university faster with higher quality.

application to students.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

There is a need of applying what are the benefits of Microsoft Office

application to students at the end of the research. This study is significant and

useful to the following sectors:

Students – This study will help the students to know the benefits of Microsoft

Office Application and its advantages to other emerging Application Software.

Teachers – This study will help the teachers to get more knowledge about

Microsoft Office Applications benefits.

ICT students – This study will help the ICT students to understand the value and

the functions of each Microsoft Office Application than other Office Application.

Parents – This study will help the parents to understand more the function of

Microsoft Office Application and its Benefits.

School – This study will help the school to be enlightened of the possible

benefits of Microsoft Office Application.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study was limited to the Grade 12 students of Plaridel Integrated

National High School (PINHS). The only focus of this study was to determine the

advantages and disadvantages of internet to students.

By using the Slovin’s formula (s= N/1+Ne^2), researchers got the number

of respondents. The respondents of the study were 100 Grade 12 students in

(PINHS).

In addition, respondents were surveyed during the study to be witness or

an evident to this study.

The data of the students serve as the independent variable while the

benefits of Microsoft office to students serve as the criterion variable.

 CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Interpreting this result Rebalt (2014) suggested that “software has a long

history and as far as the facts are known to us we will give them to you. When

missing stories, data or other information are shamed to us they will put on this

site.”

The main benefits of Microsoft office include availability of different

versions suitable for students, home users, small business and cooperation, with

each application perfectly customized to suit the requirements of each users.

Almost any person or an organization using personal computers to handle

daily documentation and number, crunching has a use for MS Office application

and it is one of the most popular application suites in global use. Even the suit

like application iMac users have far anything that is Apple could not demises the

popularity of MS Office package saver the growing demand

Microsoft office can be used in any work environment, its user friendly and

not as complicated as some many think Microsoft office is the world’s best and

famous work program for studying, personal use and office work. Microsoft

includes access, excel, outlook, power point, publisher and word Microsoft is a

word process. You can spend many time writing than formatting Microsoft excel.
 CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOY

The chapter presents the research design, subject of the study, and

procedure of the study, research instrument ad statistical treatment.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The objective of this study is to know the benefits of MS Office

Application to people ware. Adjective research design describes

characteristics of what is being studied and it aimed to find out “what is”, so

observational survey methods are frequently used to collect descriptive

data (bong & Gall, 1989) the purpose of this investigation to understand

the benefits that people can get when using MS office Application, and for

them.

SUBJECT OF THE STUDY

The respondents of the study were 100 convenient Grade 12 students

from Plaridel Integrated National High School.

PROCEDURE OF THE STUDY

To conduct this study, the researchers asked permission from the school

principal together with the permission of the Grade 12 students. The research

obtained the total number of the respondents. The total number of respondents

was 100.

The administration of the benefits of Microsoft Office Application to grade

12 students was conducted by the researchers with the help of their subject

advisers. Data were gathered, interpreted, and analyzed. The second stage of

the data analysis was generalizing or coding the survey questions.

The questionnaire for the students will reflect on the benefits that Microsoft

Office Application gives to students.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS

The researcher`s research instruments used are survey questionnaire. The

survey questionnaires used by the researchers were validated by the subject

adviser.

PRESENTATION, INTERPRETATION, AND ANALYSIS OF DATA

This chapter presents the findings of the study. The data gathered and

interpretation is also presented. The study was constructed to determine the

benefits of Microsoft Office Application to SHS students. The study sample

consists of 100 SHS students.

Figure 1 presents the reasons why SHS students use Microsoft Office

Application. As can be seen in the figure, 57 out of 100 students use Microsoft

Office Application for Documentation, 28 of students for Presentation, 10 of

students for Computation, 5 of students for Publishing.

students. The Microsoft Office Application in terms of Publishing got a mean of

2.54 and interpreted to be not really helpful. Documentation got a mean of 2.67

and interpreted to be very helpful. Presentation got a mean of 2.6 and interpreted

to be very helpful. Computation got a mean of 2.81 and interpreted to be very

helpful.

use PowerPoint, 10 of students use Excel, 3 of students use Publisher while

OneNote, Outlook, Access got 0 mostly use among the students.

 CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter shows the summary of finding, the conclusion concludes and

suggests the appropriate recommendation that would provide implications for

further research.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

Figure 1 presents the reasons why SHS students use Microsoft Office

Application. As can be seen in the figure, 57 out of 100 students use Microsoft

Office Application for Documentation, 28 of students for Presentation, 10 of

students for Computation, 5 of students for Publishing.

Table 1 reveals the benefits of Microsoft Office Application to SHS

students. The Microsoft Office Application in terms of Publishing got a mean of

2.54 and interpreted to be not really helpful. Documentation got a mean of 2.67

and interpreted to be very helpful. Presentation got a mean of 2.6 and interpreted

to be very helpful. Computation got a mean of 2.81 and interpreted to be very

helpful.

Bar 1 presents the mostly used Microsoft Office Application. As can be

seen in the Bar, 54 out of 100 students use Microsoft Office Word, 34 of students

use PowerPoint, 10 of students use Excel, 3 of students use Publisher while

OneNote, Outlook, Access got 0 mostly use among the students.

CONCLUSION

From above the findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. The most reason why student use Microsoft Office Application is for

Documentation.

2. The benefits of Microsoft Office Application in terms of Documentation,

Presentation and Computation are very helpful while Publishing is not

really helpful.

3. The most use Microsoft Office Application is MS Word.

RECOMMENDATION

Based on the findings explained, the researchers arrived at the following

recommendations:

1. It is highly recommended to use Microsoft Office Word on

Documentation.

2. It is highly recommended for students to use Microsoft Office Application

of its benefits in terms of Documentation, Presentation, Computation and

Publishing.
 3. It is highly recommended for students to use Microsoft Office Application

rather than Other Office Application.

4. It is highly recommended to use Microsoft Office Application according

to its functions and abilities.
