Purpose: To recognize the cliques at their own school and explore ways to integrate all students and form new friendships.

Purpose: To understand the meaning of the term “learning disability” and consider their own, their school’s, and society’s biases related to
learning disabilities.
Materials: computers, headphones
Driving Questions:
● What is a learning disability?
● How can learning disabilities affect students’ experiences at school? How can they affect life outside school?
● What prejudices has caused society to discriminate against people with learning disabilities, and how can we fight this
discrimination?
● How does prejudice and discrimination against people with learning disabilities connect to other forms of prejudice and
discrimination, and what can we do to fight against these biases?
● What are some advantages of living in a world in which people learn in different ways?
Build a City: RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKING 2 Slide
Purpose: To simulate the effect of classism on communities of different socioeconomic strata.
Materials: Chart paper, markers, scissors, “Build a City” handouts, Peace First money, envelopes
Privilege Walk: RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKING 2 Slide (may want to assign statements to avoid embarrassment)
Purpose: To learn to recognize how power and privilege can affect our lives even when we are not aware it is happening.
Materials: multiple printed copies of statements
Gender Stereotyping and Homophobia in Sports: RESPONSIBLE DECISION MAKING 3 Slide (can take out reading the article to save
time)
Purpose: To explore what stereotypes they may believe about gender and sexual orientation and how stereotypes harm and limit people.
