LESSON PLAN IN VISUAL GRAPHIC DESIGN

PARALLAX EFFECT

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1.) define the word parallax effect;
2.) narrate the process in making a parallax effect; and
3.) make his/her own parallax effect image.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Parallax Effect
Materials: PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, laptop and projector

a) Opening prayer
b) Review
c) Motivation
Ask the students to give some scenarios (Students answer and respond vary)
or acts that they think is/are impossible
to happen.

B. Lesson Proper
The Parallax Effect: Make an Image

What is parallax effect?

It is a panning and
zooming effect that is used to
create something like a video from
still images.

To further understand, the students will


watch a video that shows parallax effect
in an image.

How to make this?


1) Open Adobe Photoshop and then
choose an image that has clear
foreground and background.
2) Separate the foreground image from
the background using the Quick
Selection Tool and Magic Wand Tool.
Cut and paste.

3) Fill the transparent area of the


image. Edit>Fill>Content-Aware

4) Save the file as PSD (Photoshop


Document).

5) Open Adobe After Effect and then


import the PSD.
File>Import>”filename.psd”>Edita
ble layer styles

6) Open the composition and adjust the


scale and positions of the image.

7) Render and watch the parallax effect.
