Praise

Praise is seen throughout all of scripture in words like glorified (glorify), thanksgiving, bless, confess, sing
praise, honour, boast, shine, worship, commend, laud, and celebrate to name just a few. Praise is within,
a part of, worship.

Webster Definition: Praise - (verb): 1. To express approval and commendation of; applaud, eulogize. 2.
To express adoration of; glorify (God, etc). 2. Thanksgiving for blessings conferred; laudation to God;
worship expressed in song. 3. The object, ground, reason, or subject of praise.

1828 Definition: PRAISE, v.t. [L. tollo, extollo; pretium.]

1. To commend; to applaud; to express approbation of personal worth or actions.

Ex. We praise not Hector, though his name we know
Is great in arms; 'tis hard to praise a foe.
2. To extol in words or song; to magnify; to glorify on account of perfections or excellent
works.
Ex. Praise him, all his angels, praise ye him, all his hosts. Ps.148.
3. To express gratitude for personal favors.
Ex. Ps.138.
4. To do honor to; to display the excellence of.
Ex. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord. Ps.145.

Webster Definition: Worship - 1. The act or feeling of adoration or homage; the paying of religious
reverence, as in prayer, praise, etc. 2. The act or feeling of deference, respect, or honor toward virtue,
power, or the like. 3. Excessive or ardent admiration; also, the object of such love or admiration. 4. A
title of honor in addressing persons of station.

1828 Definition: WORSHIP, v.t.

1. To adore; to pay divine honors to; to reverence with supreme respect and veneration.
Ex. Thou shalt worship no other God. Exodus 34.
2. To respect; to honor; to treat with civil reverence.
Ex. Nor worshiped with a waxen epitaph.
3. To honor with extravagant love and extreme submission; as a lover.
Ex. With bended knees I daily worship her.

Praise within Worship but yet different:

2 Chronicles 29: 27-30 shows a distinction between worship and praise Biblically. – the song starts with
the start of the sacrifice; both worship (shachah ) and praise(halal) words used in this passage and
shows distinction.

celebrate in song and music:—give praise, sing forth praises, psalms. Various ways it is
used are “sing”, “sing praise”, “give praise”, “sing psalms”.

ָ towdah (to-daw' ) - from 3034; properly, an extension of the hand, i.e.
(by implication) avowal, or (usually) adoration; specifically, a choir of worshippers:—

The word ”laud” means to extol in words; divine worship which consists of praise music;
singing in honour of someone.

G5214 υμνεω humneo (hoom-neh'-o) -from 5215; to hymn, i.e. sing a religious
ode; by implication, to celebrate (God) in song:—sing a hymn (praise unto). It is used in
reference to singing hymns and praises.
