COLOUR OF 1MALAYSIA

Assalamualaikum and a very good day I wish to our lecturer, Puan Siti Hawa bt

Hasim and my fellow friends. Praise be to Allah for His Bless because we can sit here

together today. As we know, all of us will talk about the concept of 1 Malaysia, so do I.

The title of my speech today is the colour of 1 Malaysia.

Ladies and gentlemen,

1 Malaysia concept is designed by our Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun

Razak on 16 September 2010. The main objective of 1 Malaysia is to retain and

strengthen unity among all races in Malaysia which consists of Malay, Indian, Chinese,

and all ethnics in Peninsular and East of Malaysia. Unity is the core and important

element for a developed country. All Malaysians must try the best to achieve this goal in

order to build the spirit of 1 Malaysia in their souls. Each of us must understand that 1

Malaysia aspires to increase race relation through respect, sincerity and

trustworthiness.

When we talk about 1Malaysia, we must not forget about the logo and slogan of

1 Malaysia. The slogan for year 2009 is “People First, Performance Now”. Based on the

slogan, we can actually determine the meaning of it. This means that Malaysia’s

government concern about the people’s need as our country is applying democracy.

The slogan changed for the next year, 2010 which is “Generating Transformation”. This

means that the government always implements many program so that Malaysia will

achieve great success. Both of the slogans sound great right?

Members of the class,

Each of us must have our own Principe right? So do the concept of 1 Malaysia.

Without these 3 basic tenets or principles, 1 Malaysia is nothing. The first is principle of

acceptance. This means that all races and ethnics must accept or respect the variety of

cultures, traditions and religions. The second is principle of national spirit. All

Malaysians must put the loyalty and love toward our country. Remember what have

been done by our first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman to achieve the independent

for us. The last one is principle of social justice. All Malaysians will be accounted fairly

and equally.

However, what have been done by the government in order to implement the

concept of 1 Malaysia? Is there any benefit of 1 Malaysia to the people? Yes, it is. I

have read an article about the benefit of 1 Malaysia in Malay Mail Online. Datuk Joseph

Salang, Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister said that 1 Malaysia

will benefit the others whether they are from different races, ethnics or places. One of

the benefits is award of scholarships to all deserving students nationwide and the

special assistance given to top Bumiputera students from East Malaysia. This shows

that 1 Malaysia is looking forward the common good for all from the kids to the eldest.

Apart from that, there are 50 medical clinics to provide basic medical services for

illnesses and injuries such as fever, cough, colds, wounds and cuts, diabetes, and

hypertension. Those are called as 1 Malaysia Clinics. 1Malaysia Clinics are community

clinics that are strategically located and open daily for 12 hours, from 10am to 10pm.

Residents are unable to receive treatment from private clinics, either because they are
too far from where they live or because their services are too expensive, so 1 Malaysia

Clinic is one of the alternative to overcome this problem. This program is proposed by

YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak in Budget 2010 under the concept of 1 Malaysia.

Ladies and gentlemen,

We have come to the end of the speech. As the conclusion, 1 Malaysia concept

is actually a great program with great and smooth planning. As a Malaysian, we have to

try our best and co-operate each other to achieve the goal. We should realize that we

are living in multi-races country. We should respect the others and build the

relationship. As time goes by, we will see the effectiveness of 1 Malaysia to this country.

Thank you.
