When asked to put away her book, Ashley became defiant. When asked again, Ashley started to
raise her voice. She asked, “Why she had to?” and stated, “she hated the teacher” and that her
teacher, “is stupid and boring”. The para in the classroom asked Ashley if she wanted to take a
walk to calm down. Ashley agreed to go on a walk. She returned 10 minutes later and had a
calmer demeanor. She participated in class until it was work time. During work time, she
became frustrated, saying, “I’m too stupid for this.” The para helped her solve the problems she
was stuck on and she calmed down. She remained this way until the dismissal bell rang.
