Napoles, Shanelle T.

Question 1:

In your opinion, must anti-abortion people be anti-nuclear arms?

Answer 1:

No. The world we live in is a free world. The humans are given access to resources which they can utilize
either for the good or the bad. Legalizing abortion means giving the people access to killing their unborn
child for any reason they may have. On the other hand, allowing the right to use nuclear weapons means
having something to use to hurt or kill another, but in context, they have one thing in common – having
the power to end someone’s life by their mere existence. Even though abortion and weapons both result
in death, they exist for different purposes, which is why anti-abortion people could not necessarily be
also anti-nuclear arm. Because, that is all there is they have in common – to have that power to kill. It
would still depend on the person if he or she should use such power. Legalizing weapons and abortion
cannot stop killings if the doers are decided.

Question 2:

The article states, “It is true that, factually and politically, preventing abortion and preventing nuclear
war present very different problems. But it is also true that it has no more right to take innocent life in
war than it is to take innocent life by abortion?”

Comment on these statements: for example do you agree with them? Why or why not?

Answer 2:

If I am to be asked, I believe we have no right to deliberately take a life, innocent or not, in any way, for
any reason. God alone initiated life which is why He alone has the right to terminate life. I agree that only
God who created all life has the right to take it away. In Genesis 1:27 it states that God created us in his
image and we are therefore like him and are part of him. We should never take advantage of this and
should respect the right that others have to life. Life is a gift, a blessing and has dignity and therefore
only God has the right to strip a person of this gift. As a Christian, I believe that life is sacred and every
attempt should be made to try and protect it.
