Fault Transmissibility Multipliers Based

on Zones
In history match or sensitivity analysis, on one fault, users may need to assign different fault
transmissibility multiplier (FTM) values according to zones. For example, FTM should be equal to zero in
upper zone and one in lower zone. In this workflow, the dummy permeability and NTG properties are
used to generate such FTM using Fault Analysis (FA) process.

Working Steps
In this model, it is assumed that layer 1-15 belongs to zone/reservoir 1 and the rest layers to
zone/reservoir 2.

1. User property calculator to make PERMF and NTG property:

a. PERMF=If( K<=15, 1000, 20)
b. NTG=If( K<=15, 1, 0)
2. In FA process dialog, use “Calculated” method to set up FTM:
a. Permeability = 0 (constant);
b. Thickness = 25 (constant);
c. Grid properties: use PERMF and NTG.

Then, the result FTM has value of 0 in zone 1 and 1 in zone 2.

You may set opposite NTG value [If( K<=15, 0, 1)] to have FTM the other way around. The point is that:

1. FTM will be 1 when NTG is zero and 0 when fault permeability is zero and NTG is 1.
2. If fault permeability is a non-zero value, then the FTM value will be greater than 0 where NTG
=1.
