What is difference between survey and inspection ?

Survey and inspections are carried out to ensure that vessels are safe to set sail.

A marine surveyor may perform the following tasks:

 Conduct surveys throughout the ship's life (building new ship, annual survey, interim
survey, special survey) to ensure standards are maintained;
 Perform inspections required by domestic statutes and international conventions by the
International Maritime Organization (IMO);
 Survey is done to appraise or endorse certificates or approve supporting documents

act of examining something, often closely.

What is difference between Maritime & Mercantile?

Mercantile is related to trade or commerce. The group of business owners are an example of a group
that would be described as mercantile. On the other hand, Maritime is relating to sea navigation,
shipping, etc.
