So I think I may have found 2 possible Issues that are causing everyone's installations to fail.
You need to ensure you edit your hosts file as an Administrator. I failed at this the first time and didn't
realize it until I went back into my hosts file to confirm the entries were in there only to find out they
weren't.
Here's a link that describes how to edit your hosts file as an Administrator, which can be a little tricky
So in that long list of entries for your hosts file there are 2 in particular that caught my eye.
127.0.0.1 CRL.VERISIGN.NET. *
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe. *
Notice the space between the dot and the wildcard (star). That's bad. They should instead read:
127.0.0.1 CRL.VERISIGN.NET.*
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.*
That is, the final dot followed immediately by the wildcard (star) without a space in between.
Once I caught that, I uninstalled Acrobat, Used CCleaner to clean up my registry, followed all the
steps including those 2 corrected hosts file entries and poof, it worked.
Give it a try, see how it goes and comment back here to share your results with others.
