Job Description – Completions Supervisor

(Experience with CSG and Shale Gas) Onshore

Major Function and Purpose

The Completions Supervisor – The Completions Supervisor is accountable for the technical
integrity of the well, running the completion per program, during new well completions and well
interventions. Extensive onshore workover rig experience in CSG and Shale Gas essential
especially with downhole pumps and sucker-rod completions. Experience with snubbing, wireline,
coiled tubing and fracing would be an advantage.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

Operations  Plan logistics for work-over and completion operations and well intervention
work.
 Supervise equipment preparation and testings.
 Plan service company involvement and personnel requirements.
 Supervise field operations, on site.
 Troubleshoot well and completion related problems.
 Manage completion equipment inventory levels in the field.
 Ensure compliance with all regulations pertaining to the work are adhered to
by all parties.
 Manage the work in conjunction with other company personnel.
 Maintain a constant awareness of well bore conditions and operating
constraints that affect operational safety including weather conditions.
 Initiate changes to the pre-agreed program when and as required, to protect
personnel, environment, equipment and the well.
 Lead the well control team at the drilling rig in conjunction with the drilling
contractor’s senior personnel.
 Ensure well control and safety equipment is serviceable, and personnel are
competent in its use.
 Audit the work performed by the drilling contractor and third party service
contractors to ensure it is performed according to terms of contracts and
agreements.

Reporting  Prepare completion diagrams and end of well reports.


 Prepare performance analysis.

HSE  Manage company HSE systems on the drilling site.


 Observe all company health, safety and environmental instructions, act in a
safe manner and avoid unnecessary risks to themselves and others.
 Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities, dangerous occurrences
or injuries in the workplace.
 Not interfere with, remove, displace or make ineffective any safeguard, safety
device, equipment or appliance provided for health, safety and environmental
purposes – except for during an approved maintenance or repair procedure.
 Assist new employees in the use of relevant work procedures and practices in
order to ensure their safety and the safety of all employees.
 Provide safety leadership by example.

Qualifications and Experience

Required  Extensive onshore workover rig experience (pump changes, P&A’s, fishing,
cleanouts, free flow conversions etc (minimum of 5 years) CSG and Shale Gas
wellsite experience with an operating company or drilling contractor, with a
combination of office engineering and field operations assignments. Downhole
pumps and sucker-rod completions competency essential.
 Hydraulic Fracturing experience
 Snubbing Experience
 Underbalanced operations
 Engineering degree preferred but not essential
 Industry training in drilling technology and HSE.
 Current certification in IWCF Well Intervention & Pressure Control.
 Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
 Good data management and computer literacy.

Desirable  Australian Resident.


 Recent exposure to Australian CSG and Shale Gas with downhole pumps and
sucker-rod completions operations.
