SYLLABUS

7 Grade Texas History
Periods 1, 3, 5
INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

This course will cover the history of Texas from the early native peoples to its modern
government. Geography skills and the humanities will be introduced as well as the economic
affects upon its citizens.

At the end of this course, you will:


 Know the regions of Texas and the effects of colonization
 be able to explain the role of Texas in multiple wars
 understand how the Texas government serves its citizens

NEEDS AND RESOURCES

Required Background
To successfully complete this course, you must:
 know how to follow simple and complex directions (written and oral)
 be able to write complete sentences and read the requited text
 understand and meet classroom expectations
 as for help when necessary

Required Materials
To successfully complete this course, you will need:
 McGraw Hill text Texas History (remains in classroom)
 Chromebook or iPad provided by the school
 Pencils, map pencils, journal or notebook

Be respectful.
Follow directions
Anything you do in class should not cause a problem for you or anyone else

Grading Policies:
All assigned work will be graded within the week it is given, except for large projects. Late work is
accepted during the week it is due at a reduced score, unless arrangements with me have been
made. See the above GENERAL RULES. This does not apply to absent work. If a student is
absent they have the number of days they were gone to turn in the work. For example, if a
student is absent one day, then they have one extra day to turn in the work.
