IEP notes
Opening:
• Giving the parent their right and were verbalized to the parent on their rights. Asked if
they had any questions regarding their rights.
• Talked about medicate and gave the parents a piece of paper to have them sign to bill
for medicate if applicable.
• Have all the information to each team member
o 2 general education teachers, special education teacher, principal and parent
were present.
o All members signed that they were present before the meeting started.
Starting the meeting:
• The special education teaches introduced each member and their role they play in their
child’s academic career.
• Gave an over view of the accommodation that are being serviced right now for the
student.
o When being pulled for interventions, behavior occurs strongly.
• Went over all the goals that are on the IEP and what were transferred from the students
last school.
o Got rid of the student’s math goals due to the student’s performance this year,
and test scores.
§ The student has shown that they benefit more being in the general
educations classroom than being pulled.
§ The general education teacher expressed how excited they were to see
the students’ performance in their classroom and felt confident that they
would still strive staying in the classroom.
o Added a goal to help the student with spelling and weekly goals.
§ General education teacher expressed that she felt with the spelling goal
and accommodation would benefit the student to achieve more correct
on his spelling test.
• Students mother expressed how excited and happy she was to see this growth in her
child’s education with all the outside sources happening at home.
Conclusion:
• Special education teacher gave an over view of the decisions made in the meeting
• Talked about the assessment that the student may take throughout the school year.
• Told the Mother that once the official IEP is sent home she had 10 days to object any of
the decisions made.
