9. Rationale:

The module is designed to enable students to develop their understanding of research


methods and confidence in designing a research project and choosing the appropriate
methods.
10. Objectives of Module:

(i) To familiarise students with the fundamental theories and key concepts in
research
(ii) To explain how to formulate research problems as well as research questions
and/or hypotheses that can be tested
(iii) To highlight the importance of identifying appropriate analysis to answer
research questions

11. Module Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the module, students are able to:

(i) Synthesize the theories, key concepts and processes in research


(ii) Formulate research problems as well as research questions and/or hypotheses
that can be tested
(iii) Apply appropriate analysis to answer research questions
(iv) Integrate the knowledge and comprehension on research methodology to write
a research proposal

12. Teaching Methodology:

This module is taught using a combination of lectures as well as group based activities.
The activities will assess the students’ ability to apply the theories, concepts and
principles of research.
