McGill University, first established

McGill University’s Mining Engineering Program is the oldest in Canada and has
traditionally had the highest reputation for excellence. Graduates in this program are
found in top management positions of many Canadian mining companies, and have
been responsible for many important breakthroughs and innovations witnessed in the
industry. One of the highlights of McGill’s Mining Engineering Program includes its
cooperative nature, which aims to reshape undergraduate education by offering the
students the opportunity to gain industrial work experience during the course of their
studies and be exposed to the constantly evolving high-technology mine environment.
