Briefer on the Program Update on National Dengue Prevention Control

a. There is a decrease of cases from 200,000(2016) to 150,000(2017)
b. As of the present time there is 58,101 cases of dengue this year with a CFR of 0.52%
c. The enhanced 4S states to support spraying only in hot spot areas when there is
impending outbreak
d. Information dissemination via social media sites could be further enhanced/ utilized.
2. Leptospirosis Updates and Plans
a. A total of 73 cases of leptospirosis were admitted to NKTI from June 14-28, 2018 with
reported 10 mortalities.
b. Make sure the availability of Doxycycline stocks and rapid diagnostic tests esp among
high prevalence areas
c. Emphasize the close coordination between DOH, DENR and LGU regarding
environmental sanitation interventions
d. Augment/improve the capabilities of regional hospitals to manage Leptospirosis cases
esp complicated cases.
e. Information dissemination via social media sites could be further enhanced/ utilized.
