METHOD STATEMENT FOR SUPER STRUCTURES OF PREK HO

Introduction

The materials to be used for bridge construction such as reinforcement steel bar, concrete, high
tensile strength steel wire etc…Will be conformed to the specifications. All material for
permanent work will be approved by the engineer prior to the work.

I. Scope of work

a) Erection of PC girder
b) Diaphragm slab, deck and girder connection
c) Curb and hand rail
d) Expansion joint
e) Elastomeric bearing pad
f) Water proofing on bridge deck
g) Asphalt wearing course

II. Equipment

a) Truck crane
b) Air compressor
c) Hydraulic jack
d) Truck mixer
e) Vibrator
f) Liner plate
g) Tensioning machine
h) Grouting machine
i) Other applicable equipment

III. Method Construction

a) Erection of PC girder

 Preparation

PC girder stock yard will be cleared from any foreign materials that may obstruct
for the unloading of the girder. The area will be more in flat terrain wooden blocks
and braces will be provided and ready as support for pre-stressed girders when laid
to prevent the pre-stressed girder directly touching the ground transportation plan
will be submitted for approval of the consultant. The pre-stressed concrete girder
will be transported with proper manner, which does not incur excessive stress on
the concrete.
1) Setting out for installation of PC girders will be conformed to be contact drawing.
2) Installation of bridge bearing will be installed on proper position as followed
the contact drawing
3) Installation of PC girders erection of pc girder will be carried out with launching
girder sketch of launching girder is attach for reference.
Procedure of erection is follows.
- Assemble erection girder at leveled yard adjusent to A2 abutment
- Place erection girder on to span between abutment A2 and A1
- Lay rails to transfer pc girder
- Assemble to set up pc girder relocation units
- Slide pc girder from pc girder fabrication yard to erection girder
- Move pc girder to correct position with relocation units
- Launch erection girder to next span between P1 and P2
- Extend rail and erection span
- Move erection unit
Method statement of erection of pc girder will be submitted separately.

b) Cross beam

 Description

1) After completed installation of 6 girders, connect other by concrete cross beam


2) Scaffolding in to the main girder and hanging out of scaffolding

c) Typical of Cross beam

 Intermediate diaphragm

1) Preparation work

- Connecting steel bar Ø25mm between pc girder


- Arrangement bar
- Setting bottom form by hang method
- Setting rebar Ø25mm
- Setting side formwork and bearing by separator bolt

2) Concrete work

- Mixing concrete and transporting form batching plant to site


- Checking slump
- Pouring concrete by concrete pump
- Smoothing surface of concrete by smooth trowel
- Curing concrete at leas 3 days
- Removing side form work 1 day after pouring concrete
- Removing bottom form work when concrete strength becomes high
or as requirement of the engineer
- Smoothing all concrete surface with mortar after removing form work

d) End diaphragm

 Procedure

1) Preparation work

- Preparation scaffolding support around cross head


- Setting steel anchor bar and pouring mortar for anchor halls with position
as shown on the construction drawing
- Setting bottom form work by support and hung by rebar Ø25mm
- Joining rebar Ø25mm between pc girder
- Arranging bar
- Setting steel bar Ø25mm
- Setting side form work and bracing by separator bolt or C bolt.
2) Concrete work

- Mixing concrete and transporting from batching plant to site


- Checking slump
- Pouring concrete by concrete pump
- Top surface of concrete washing or brushing
- Curing concrete at lease 3 days
- Removing side form work 1 day after pouring concrete
- Removing bottom form work when concrete strength becomes high
or requirement by the engineer
- Smoothing all concrete surface with mortar after removing form work.

e) Curb

 Install temporary work platform


 Cleaning steel reinforcement bar and straightening as necessary
 Surveying for marking line on the deck slab
 Arranging the reinforcement bar
 Erecting formwork bracing by separator and anchor bolt
 Adjusting the form work in straight line
 Pouring concrete
 Smooth top surface with trowel except hand rail post location
 Carry out concrete curing
 Remove form work after concrete achieves required strength

f) Hand rail

 Row hand rail

1) Row hand rail will be manufactured on casting yard

 Hand rail post

1) C lean construction joint on curb


2) Set up raw hand rails with support
3) Fix rebar of hand rail post
4) Erect form work of hand rail post
5) Prior to concreting, check slump test and take the sample for compressive test
6) Pouring concrete
7) Carry out concrete curing
8) Remove form work

 Water proofing on bridge deck

1) Material of water proofing will be submitted

- Clean up bridge deck surface


- Apply water proofing on bridge deck and curb under asphalt wearing course.

2) Asphalt wearing course

- Clean up water proofing surface


- Spray tack coat with distributor
- Lay and compact hot mixed asphalt concrete.
