Outline for Sabbath School Teachers with ideas for group discussion inspired by the Teachers’

Edition of the Sabbath School Lesson prepared by the General Conference SS ministry.

Lesson n.06 04 - 10 August 2018

Title: The Ministry of Peter
Key texts: Acts 9:32-43; 10:9-16, 35-35; 11:1-26; 12:1-18; Ephesians 2:11-19.

Themes to Explore:
1. That impulsive and self-important disciple, guided by the Spirit becomes a faithful, humble and able leader.
2. The gift of the Spirit to the gentiles represents a fundamental pillar in God’s plan. It teaches much about
the mission and God.
3. Someone wrote: If you take the Spirit out of the early church, there is no church. The same is true today.

B. Learning Objectives
Know: Reflect on the administrative skills and gifts of Peter.
Feel: Recognize the changes in Peter: from an unsure, impulsive disciple to a man of faith, courage and
determination.
Do: Draw lessons (both personal and for the church) from those Peter learned about life and service
in his experience.

C. Other possible questions for deeper study, debate, sharing and testimony
1. Why is this lesson important to me? (Motivate);
1a. Why don’t we see the same miracles of Peter and Paul anywhere? What are we lacking? What do we
need to do?
1b. Why was the Spirit so present in the early church, whereas today He is absent?
2. What else is there still to learn from God’s Word? (Explore);
2a. What elements were produced in Peter which made Him able to work signs and miracles similar to
those of Jesus?
3. How can I practice what I’ve learned from God’s Word? (Apply);
3a. What do the following texts tell us about the mission of the Kingdom and the Spirit: Acts 10:19,20, 44s?
How do I fit into all this?
4. How can I communicate and apply what I’ve learned from God’s Word? (Create).
4a. What can we learn for our testimony from the examples of Peter, Barnabas and the early church?
