The value that I would like to study is about the social inclusion of people with

blindness. When people become blind they have to learn to lead a new rhythm of life

but this does not mean that they can not do the things of their daily life independently.

By learning to lead this new rhythm of life and continuing with their duties, they are

part of a society that is accustomed to dealing with people without blindness, which is

why it is necessary to adapt and include people with visual disabilities.

I chose this value because I am currently doing my psychology internship in a

blind rehabilitation center, where you can see that people with blindness come in

thinking that they are the ones who have the problem and that they will not be able to

live their life in a way independent, but as they pass through the center they discover

that they can be included in society and that the problem is not theirs, but society's. It is

very much related to the sociological imagination proposed by Mills that emphasizes

the importance of being able to observe the relationship between the social structure, the

individual experience and the agency. Well this would allow to see that many times

society is not used to include people with blindness and this can be seen from how the

streets are built, to the few job opportunities that are given.

And this value makes you think about the social problem of people with

blindeness. That’s why I choose to write about the the discrimination of people with

visual disabilities. When people become blind, they have to learn to lead a new rhythm

of life, but this does not mean that they can not do the things of their daily life

independently. When learning to lead this new rhythm of life and continue with their

duties, they are part of a society that is used to dealing with people without blindness, so

they often feel that society discriminates against them and does not help them to be part

of it.

The social institution that I chose is the government of my country that is Peru, this has
many problems, but one that I would like to analyze is the lack of inclusion of people

with disabilities, especially the visual one. The government is responsible for building

the streets and regularizing the study centers, however, this is not satisfactory because

the streets are not made so that a person with blindness can walk freely on the street

because most of them do not have signs on the street. floor. In addition, the government

imposed regulations for schools to include people with disabilities, however, it does not

follow up on them being carried out, for example, universities should give them the

opportunity to take an admission test with braille readings or with a companion that sees

and that can read the questions, nevertheless the centers of study prefer to deny the

option to the examination

The sociological perspective that I am going to use the theory of symbolic

interaction can be seen despite the difficulties presented by people with blindness, they

give a sense to what they live and seek to advance despite the limitations. It is important

to be able to cover this perspective in order to observe that despite the limitations that

people with visual impairment present, they seek to make changes and move on with

their lives.

Now the government is looking at how to include people with blindness in

tourism, in the reception of hotels, because in a few months they will be paralyzed in

Peru and this has to be pre-prepared to receive people With different disabilities, the bad

news is that they are just doing it. That's why I think it's important that this institution

not only works to receive visits from people with disabilities, but that it should be able

to offer the same opportunities to people with disabilities as those who do not; This

could be achieved by supporting more the institutions that work with people with

disabilities promoting the help given to people with visual disabilities.
