PACKAGING/LABEL
INTRODUCTION

Project : Design 3 labels of scented candles including the lid with different
variants.

Description : Lit by Lit is a candle company specialising in scented literary candle. All
candles are made with natural soy wax candles which is hydrogenated from
soybean oil. It is non-toxic, renewable, and biodegradable. Soy candle has
the characteristic of soft texture and has lower melting point than paraffin so
it burns much longer. Every candle is hand-poured, and only high-quality
scents and dyes are use in the process. Lit by Lit drew inspiration of their
scents from many kinds of sub-genre in books. The aim of the company is to
encourage more people to enjoy reading books. When the candle is lit, the
scent will create a nice atmosphere so a reader can fully immerse themselves
into the fiction world of the book.
Three variants of the candles are:
1. Asian Fantasy is all about exciting and dangerous adventure in Asia. It
has exotic oriental aroma which smells like the combination of spicy,
citrus, and sweet floral.
2. Sweet Romance is the feeling of lovely and fluffy teenage relationship.
The aroma is fruity and light like marshmallow.
3. Forest Mystery is about dark and creepy mystery in the deep woods. It
has strong scent of grass, trees, and woods.

Design : The label design should appear calming and natural to emphasize the calm
atmosphere when the candle is burning, and the natural ingredients. The
products are high quality and should appeal to a moderate-high income
demographic.

Target market : people aged from 16 to 29 years old who enjoy reading books

INSTRUCTION TO THE COMPETITOR

 Create a folder on your Desktop called YY_MOD2_Your Name (where YY represents

the number of your workstation).
 This folder must include the following 2 subfolders “Task1_Mod3” and
“Task2_Mod3”.
 Those subfolders contain themselves 2 subfolders “Original” and “Final”:
o A folder named “Final”: it should contain all of the files you are supposed to
deliver as required in the tasks. (PDF, native, fonts and linked images)
o A folder named “Original”: it should contain all the files used for the
development of your project.
 Time limit for this test project: 180 minutes

 You can create your graphic elements or/and illustration. You can use the images
supplied if needed for your design

- Sweet Romance: CMYK + PMS 212 C
- Forest Mystery: CMYK + PMS 375 C
 Printing : printed on one side only
 Images Resolution : 150 PPI (if needed)
Note: You MUST NOT embed images in Illustrator or InDesign

Only files from these folders will be assessed

TASK 2: LID LABEL DESIGN
Design a label sticker to be stuck onto the lid of candle jar.

 Include the logo supplied (Mod2_logos)
 You can create your graphic elements or/and illustration. You can use the images
supplied if needed for your design.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
 Dimensions : diameter 40 mm
 Colors : CMYK
 Printing : printed on one side only
 Images Resolution : 150 PPI (if needed)
