Washboard Abs: Bulgarian Fitness Model Lazar Angelov

Talks With Simplyshredded.com

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

During my younger years I watched a lot of action movies and I really admired those strong and ripped
physiques. At that time I admired Jean-Claude Van Damme and most of all Bruce Lee. I was probably 10
years old, although I had a pair of dumbbells at home and I trained with them often and I also use to do
Wing Tsun training. That was my first taste of fitness/bodybuilding. A couple of years later I got into
basketball and that was my new passion as I would eat and sleep basketball. That was my life, I
practiced in the morning and lifted weights after that. In the evening I trained again without taking any
supplements and not knowing what to eat. Thinking about my lifestyle back then, I now realize how
many mistakes I made and how much more beneficial it would have been had I known what I do today.
After my basketball career was over I went in the Army for a year and there I started to lift weights more
often. After that I received my personal training certificate and decided to become a trainer.

I also participated a couple of times in the national bodybuilding championships and was
always in the top 3 and that’s how my bodybuilding journey begun.
Where does your motivation come from?
My motivation comes from all my fans and the people who support me. But most of all it comes from my
clients and the positive results, which they accomplish with my assistance. The other thing that motivates
me and I couldn’t live without is music. I listen to it all the time – before and after training I can’t go
without listening to some of the new tracks of Rick Ross, Slim Thug and the old classics by Tupac.

Once my earphones are in I am in the zone and ready to train hard!

What workout routine has worked best for you?

If you have to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be
and why?
It would be the big 3 compound lifts:

1. Bench Press
2. Deadlift
3. Squats

I like training hard and heavy on those 3 exercises.

What is your diet like?

Meal 1: Oat Flakes and 6 Egg Whites
Meal 2: Whey Protein, Rice and Chicken Fillets
Meal 3: Whey Protein and Almonds
Meal 4: Rice and Chicken Fillets
Meal 5: Tuna Fish and Salad
Meal 6: Protein Shake
When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or
just normal cardio?
I prefer HIIT since normal cardio makes the muscle flat and drained, especially on natural athletes with
fast metabolisms like myself. So this is why I avoid normal cardio and just stick with HIIT.

What is your supplementation like?

I take a Multivitamin in the morning, Whey Protein (after getting up in the morning, before and after
training and before going to bed), 5-10 grams of BCAA’s and Glutamine before and after training.

I don’t like to use any products containing creatine, since I have a sensitive stomach and
I always feel sick when using creatine, regardless of the form.

Favorite Bodybuilders?
I like aesthetic physiques and genetically gifted athletes like Ulisses Jr, Max Philisaire, Phil
Heath and Victor Martinez.
Favorite Quote?

hey, can anybody tell me what age should one start doing his workout/diet plan.(iam 15 by the way)

April 15, 2012 at 8:47 pm

SharpMoz says:
@monkey you’re too young now to be lifting. You’ll stunt your growth but also get nothing out of it.
You’re too young to produce enough testosterone to gain muscle. Don’t do what i did though and wait
until you’re old enough (16/17) to start getting active. Play sports and you’ll give yourself a head start
when you do decide to lift
