III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity: 4 Pics 1 Word
Four pictures that describe stress will be shown to the students. Then, the students will guess
what the pictures represent.
Follero, Arleth T. June 05, 2018
The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will be asked to use the word “STRESS” as an
acronym in identifying their stressors as a student. They will write it on a manila paper and present it in
front of the class. Students will be given 10 minutes to do the activity and each group will have 3
minutes to present their work. Before the activity starts, the following rubrics will be discussed to the
students.
C. Analysis
1. Do most of your classmates have similar stressors as you have? How does it make you feel?
2. Based on the presentations, what are the common stressors that you face as students?
3. How does knowing our stressors can help us in managing our stress?
4. Do you think we can live a stress-free life? Why?
5. What can you do to cope with stress?

D. Abstraction
We all have certain things, situations, or people that cause us to be stressed. When you begin to
identify your stressors, you can become skilled at preventing negative consequences. For example, if
cramming causes you to be stressed, you can do something to avoid it such as prioritizing your tasks and
managing your time wisely to finish your requirements beforehand. However, there are stressors that
we have no control of such as conflict between parents and being misunderstood by a friend. Thus, we
can conclude that stress is part of our life. We may be able to reduce our stressors, but we can still be
stressed from time to time.
Knowing how to deal with stress is important because the longer you avoid dealing with the
stress factors, the more the stress will build up. Prolonged stress can be devastating; burnout,
breakdown, and depression are some of the potential results of long-term, unmanaged stress. By
wearing a mask, you may expect to hide stress caused by problems in your personal life and not let
them influence your performance in school. This will probably not work. The more you try to hold your
emotions in, the greater the pressure build-up will be. Relaxation is the key in managing stress but most
people must train themselves to relax when the pressure is on.
Some coping strategies that can make you relax when stressed are the following:
Stop for a moment and take a few deep breaths.
Do a relaxing exercise. Swing your hands at your sides and stretch.
Take a “power nap.” Lie down and totally relax for a few minutes.
Find time to do the things you enjoy.
Leave your study area for a while to take a brisk walk.
Find a quiet place to read a magazine or novel during break or at lunch.
If possible, look or imagine some peaceful images such as forests, beaches, etc. These images
can initiate a relaxation response.
