Strength

13th amendment provides authority to PID to deal with Provincial


Irrigation, Drainage, Flood Control and Salt water Exclusion Schemes.

Since PID emerged from well established CID, it has proven well
tested system in place.

Availability of senior engineers to lead in front.


Status of the sector

Weakness
Most of the schemes are in dilapidated condition and functioning
below their designed operational level.

The war situation prevailing during last two decades.

Damages caused by the frequent floods.

Inadequate allocation of funds for maintenance, flood damage repairs


and rehabilitation.

Lack of staff, especially engineers and other technical staff
