Introduction
As part of network expansion to accommodate rapid glowing of TdC’s wholesale and enterprise
customer demand, TdC and Coriant teams are working together to introduce Coriant next-generation
packet-optical platform – mTera into the CPCS network.

The mTera is an extremely flexible multi-service packet optical transport platform. It seamlessly
supports OTN, SDH and packet grooming as well as an advanced ROADM-based optical layer on a single
shelf. It is designed to handle many applications with minimal set of interface cards and to use every
port on every card to its full potential.

mTera Trial and Buy arrangement

In order to make sure that mTera meets TdC network expansion requirement and TdC technical team is
familiarized with mTera technology, Coriant is proposing mTera trial and buy arrangement for TdC as
below:

a. Coriant will bring in 4 units of mTera. (mTera BOM on Appendix A)

b. These mTera will be setup in TdC lab together with 4 units of T7100 optical main shelf to mimic
part of the existing CPCS network configuration.
c. A complete set of test cases is drafted based on TdC deployment model with TdC endorsement
prior to the actual trial.
d. Coriant will go through each of the agreed test cases with TdC technical team
e. Once all test cases are completed and passed the criteria as defined in the test document, TdC
will sign off the test plan.
f. TdC can then proceed to deploy mTera in CPCS network

Action 1 Establish a 10G EPL circuit (see Test 5.11)
2 Verify 100% throughput with a test set
3 Modify CIR to 5G using TNMS, CS, or CLI
4 Verify reduced throughput with a test set
5 Modify EIR to allow burst traffic above CIR
6 Verify throughput has increased to CIR + EIR
7 Restore CIR to 10G
8 Verify 100% throughput has been restored

Expected Throughput observed on the test set, should be consistent with throughput provisioned on
results the ingress interface.
