Mrs. Wessels' Kindergarten Class

Class Rules and Rationale

"@-Wewillrespecteachother,theteacher,andanyonethatwalksin
our class. Use kind words and actions, as we do not want to hurt someone's feelings
and upset them.
Follow directions- It is important to having listening ears on and do as the teacher
asks. When following directions, we can have fun learning.
Raise your hand to talk- It is hard for others to listen to the directions when everyone
is talking at the same time. It is important to take turns during a discussion. Please wait
for your peer to stop talking before I call on you to speak.
Stay on task and do your best all day- If we stay on task and finish a lesson in a timely
manner, we will have time to review if necessary and we can move on to more fun
learning activities. Always try your best!
r' Come happy and come ready to learn- I will always greet you with a smile and I want
to see your beautiful smile. Even when we are not happy, just smiling makes you feel
better. Smile and get ready for a great day of learning!

CBM 7 Things Students Want to Know

L.Am I in the right room? It is important for students to feel welcome and
look forward to coming to school. It should be easy for them to find my room.
I will have my number and name posted on the door with a Welcome sign. I
will also, be waiting at the door to welcome them into my classroom. I will
have a smile on my face so that they know I am here to support them and
care for them while they are with me.
2. Where am I supposed to sit? I want my students to know that they have a
place in my room. They will have a nametag on their specific spot to sit.
3. What are the rules in this classroom? I will have several rules posted,
however I will be discussing with my students, rules that they think we
should have and we will make the list together.
4. What will I be doing this year? It is important for students to know what is
expected of them. We will be going over class procedures so that students
know where they put things, such as book bags, lunch boxes, folders and
what to do when they get in the class, such as washing hands.
5. How will I be graded? It is reasonable to want to know who you will be
graded. I will be teaching Kindergarten, therefore my students may not know
too much about the system. I will be using a L,?, or 3 for assessments.
6. Who is the teacher as a person? It is important for the students to know
that I am human too. In our hallway, all of the Kindergarten teachers have
posted personal photos for our students and parents to see.
7. Will the teacher treat me as a human being? Everyone wants to be treated
with respect, dignity, and love. I will make sure that my children know that
they are loved and cared for. I will always meet them with a smile and a hug.
