Now we will move to QW-403, Base Metals

(18) Here we have to write the P number of base metal (of pipe 1).
Identification of the P number of a base metal is already discussed in the
previous blog.
In the case we are discussing the base metal is SA106 Gr B and the P
number is 1
(19) Here we have to write the group number of base metal (of pipe 1).
Identification of the group number is also discussed in the previous blog.
In the case we are discussing the base metal is SA106 Gr B and the group
number is 1
(20) Here we have to write the P number of the base metal (of pipe 2). As
we are going to weld SA106 Gr B with SA106 Gr B (Pipe to pipe joint) P
number is 1
(21) Here we have to write the group number (of pipe 2) which of SA106 Gr
B is 1
PIPE 1 PIPE 2

SA106 Gr B SA106 Gr B

(18) P No: 1 (19) Gr No: 1 (20) P No: 1 (21) Gr No: 1

(22) Specification and type/grade or UNS number: in our case the details of
pipe 1 is to be given.
We know the material specification, so we will write it as “SA106 Gr B or
equivalent”. As this WPS can be used for matching chemistry of SA106 Gr
B we have written the word “equivalent”
(23) to Specification and type/grade or UNS number: in our case the details
of pipe 2 is to be given.
We know the material specification, so we will write it as “SA106 Gr B or
equivalent”. As this WPS can be used for matching chemistry of SA106 Gr
B we have written the word “equivalent”
(24) Chem.Analysis and Mech.Prop. : Please see the word “OR” between
(23) and (24) that means if we don’t know the details in (22) and (23) then
we have to fill (24) and (25).
(25) optional as discussed in (24)
Will continue on next blog….
