Learning goal: Further improve English language

school readiness, learn strategies to listen to and follow instructions, sustain focus
Te Whariki goal: expressing their feelings and ideas using a range of materials and modes

Jawaher I have noticed that you love art activities.

Almost every day you would ask, “Teacher can I do
colouring?” The other day you came with Rayan and
chosen a picture to colour. This activity sheet was not
designed just for colouring. First of all you needed to
create the whole picture by joining the dots in
alphabetical order. You do know some of the letters as
you are still developing the knowledge of English
letters. So you joined the dots with a very little help.
Then you started to colour it. You sat there for a long
time colouring this picture. You even tried to write
your name.
Next you cut around the picture that you coloured.
MashaAllah you developed good scissors skills.
The final part of this work was let the chicken stand on
a stick. So you fixed a stick with selo tape. When you
finally finished your creation you proudly showed me
holding the stick. I was pleased to see you cut the
chicken precisely around the line.
MashaAllah Jawaher you followed through so many
steps to create some thing of your liking.
First you joined the dots to finish drawing the whole
chicken, 2nd coloured it, 3rd tried to write your own
name, 4th cut around the picture, finally fixed it on a
stick using selo tape.
I was pleased to see your creativity and how you
sustained your concentration for a long time which is
our term goal for you for this term.

Creativity is part of Islam. Creativity is everywhere in

Allah’s creation, even creativity in rhythms like being
able to recite Quran beautifully. It should be seen as an
important skill that Muslims should have.
