Arvot
Deloitte in Finland will be part of the Deloitte member firm North West Europe, like all the

g 2. Will Nordic be just one member firm inside North West Europe?
No, there will be just one member firm, North West Europe. Nordic will be a geography

within North West Europe, along with the geographies of UK-Swiss, Netherlands and

talent.

4. What is the role or decision making power of Service Area or Service Line leaders going
forward?
As a key principle, decisions will be made as close to the clients, markets and people as
possible. Our local Business Leaders, Service Area or Service Line leaders will play an
important role going forward also. A good perspective to remember is that e.g. by
appointing Nordic leaders, we are not aiming to reduce the decision making power or our
local leaders but rather introduce a completely new level of strategic and operational
leadership on matters that we did not have before. Joint Nordic investments are a good
example: our local leaders have more responsibility and mandate to operate to pursue
and turn investments successful.
5. How do you prevent UK from dominating the North West Europe as they generate more
than half of the revenue?
This is a joint effort of all North West Europe member firms and we’ll learn a lot from the
UK as they will learn a lot from us also. All member firms join the integrated NWE with
their own strengths and development potential. It is important to acknowledge that the
UK have the scale and experience in leading and developing a multi-billion sized business.
None of the other NWE countries have that experience yet. This is why we all benefit from
UK playing an important role in the NWE.
We have been very decisive and united that we want to operate under the connected
autonomy principle, i.e. make decisions as close to the clients, markets and people as
possible and build on more connectedness where it makes sense. “Domination” by one
country is not foreseen and does not fit in the way we have agreed to operate.
We do understand that when we learn to work as one NWE, there will be moments where
somebody may feel that the UK is dominating. These are the moments where we will
need to walk some extra miles to make sure our viewpoints are heard and understood

correctly.
We will also need to understand, be open for and appreciate the other perspectives to
really understand what is best for Deloitte, as that may not always be what we initially
think. We have leadership and governance in place to make sure we all strive for the same
goals in a well-balanced way. Together with other Finnish and Nordic leaders, we are
available to discuss any of your concrete observations in this regard as I can assure you
that all nine countries want to make this a success – and success is built only with good
dialogue and understanding where we need to do differently.
6. How were the member firms selected to be part of North West Europe?
These are the nine countries that wanted to and had the readiness to be the first movers
and founding members of NWE. We are very proud that Finland together with other
Nordic countries made the decision to start integrating already as of 1 June 2016.
9. How is the ownership divided between partners of different member firms / countries?
Partners will continue to own their local country entities and become partners in Deloitte
North West Europe LLP.
10. Will the individual member firms, like Finland, still have responsibility for its revenue?
Yes, a good business principle is that we continue to have this responsibility. However,
within NWE we’ll recognise cross-border roles, activities and contribution and there will be
mechanisms to compensate these on a fair basis.

12. How will the profit be divided between the North West Europe countries?
All countries will need to strive for and deliver sustainable profitable growth and all
countries are expected to contribute their part to the NWE and Deloitte globally. There is
a mechanism to ensure sustainable fairness within NWE.
13. What is the role of North West Europe in relation to the US? Will it gain a stronger role in
e.g. developing methodologies and tools?
North West Europe will be the second largest member firm within Deloitte (US being the
largest). Therefore, NWE will play a very important role in Deloitte globally.
