In line with the provision in 2017 General Appropriation Act for the additional 2,000 Fire Officer 1
(FO1) effective July 01, 2018, the Bureau of Fire Protection released on May 15, 2018, the Program of
Activities for the simultaneous conduct of regular recruitment and selection for new FO1s for CY 2018. For
the complete list of activities of the 2018 BFP recruitment, please refer to the table below.

Recruitment Quota for 2018
The Program Distribution List of FO1 Quota shall be based on the firetruck-firefighter ratio, number
of establishments, average number of fire incidents, average number of issued permits/certificates with
consideration of 85% on operations and 15% on administrative functions. Listed below is the Program
Distribution List of FO1 Regular Quota for CY 2018 as approved by the Chief BFP.

Application Requirements
The concerned Regional Administrative Officer will conduct the preliminary/initial screening of
applicant’s documents based on the qualifications standards and provision of Republic Act No. 9263 as
amended by Republic Act No. 9592. For the complete list of requirements, please follow this link: How to

In addition to the initial requirements, the BFP is prioritizing FO1 applicants who are holders of NC
II or III in Driving issued by TESDA. Similarly, holders of unexpired Professional Driver’s License with
Restriction Code 2 and 3, provided that the applicants have complied with the minimum qualification
standards will also be prioritized.

The BFP is also recruiting licensed architects, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers to
strengthen the pool of personnel who will be designated as Plan Evaluators and other engineering-related
functions.
