Several races were tight and almost too close
2018 to call. The attorney general’s race and the Re-

will be. In November, voters will once again go
to the polls and decide winners in all races. It’s
possible Oklahoma voters will turn out in record
numbers because of the governor’s race.

candidate Drew Edmondson is part of the old
guard that ruled Oklahoma for decades. Who’s
to say voters will be willing to return to that time
period?
At the legislative level, several Republican
incumbents were voted out Tuesday and new-
comers are hoping to make their way to the state
Capitol where they will inherit the longstanding
budget problems. New lawmakers won’t neces-
sarily solve Oklahoma’s problems unless they
develop and implement new ideas and strategies
that can pull the state out of its economic woes.
