Lesson Plan Title: SAY HELLO TO MRS.

GREEN

Subject: Art education Grade: JK
Topic: getting to know the art from observation Essential Question: Where is Mr. Art?

Materials: Green plants, magnifying glasses, water-color pen, paper, glue, video

Stage 1- Desired Results – you may use student friendly language


What do they need to understand, know, and/or able to do?
--They need to know that plants are different and each of them have their own name just
like themselves.
--They are able to use the magnifying glass to observe the plant more specifically.
--They are able to know and practice how to describe a thing in a complete sentences.
--They are able to use the water-color pen or crayon to draw a picture about the plant
and their features.
[-Every things have their own features and that is why things are different with each others.
-We are all different from others and we have our own representations, which makes us so unique in
the world.]

Outcome(s):
-Observe and identify details of the physical appearance of plants, animals, people, and objects, and
create visual representations.(This lesson would only include plants observation)

Stage 2- Assessment
Assessment FOR Learning (formative) Assess the students during the learning to help determine next steps.

STAGE 1: Those students who are able to pay attention to observing the plant, give them a positive praise. For
those distractive students, give them individual helps like eye contact, body contact, name-calling....to make
sure they can pay attention to the class.
STAGE 2: Those students who can use the magnifying glass praise them and let them help those laggars.
STAGE 3: Help them come up with a complete sentence to describe the plant
STAGE 4: Encourage them to draw the plant down and print color. Give everyone a positive common about
their works and use a complete sentence to describe the plant.

Assessment OF Learning (summative) Assess the students after learning to evaluate what they have learned.

Stage 3- Learning Plan

Motivational/Anticipatory Set (introducing topic while engaging the students)

Introduce Mrs. Green to the class and her friends. (show them the the green area in their classroom)
Demonstrate a video about how the growth of plants.
Use the magnifying glasses to enhance something just for fun and them let the class focus on the plant
observation.

Main Procedures/Strategies:

1. Observe a plant: teacher will record all the words which students come up with and write them down
2. Make those words to a complete sentence and whole class read it together
3. Observe another plant and let them try to express it into a whole sentence
4. Teacher makes a complete sentence by the words students said and whole class read it together
5. Give them some information about how to take a good care of Mrs. Green

Adaptations/Differentiation:
If students can’t know what are going to do, pay no interests about the plant, then give them a painting class.
Students can use all the painting materials to draw.

Closing of lesson:

-All of the class introduces Mrs. Green together and say to goodbye to her.
-Make a promise: take a good care of Mrs. Green

Personal Reflection:
--Adjust the levels of the lesson, make sure students are interest in it.
--If most of students don’t know how to use those art materials, teach them in advance.
