1.Give a brief description of the Project and its outcomes
The actual project that I undertook for this ACP was to transfer a previous online curriculum for the Year 7 English unit on
Running Wild over to a new Google Site. The school is in the process of updating all their online curriculums from older
versions of Google Sites to newer versions and this ACP was a contribution towards that. The outcome was a new version of
the Google Site that was visually updated, easy for teachers to navigate and still retained all the necessary information and
activities that were on the previous site. There was plenty of content as well as activities that needed to be transferred across
and made easily accessible for the Year 7 unit on evaluative writing and Running Wild.

2. Provide evidence of how project aims were met or not met and why with reference to relevant educational theory
/ or literature or policy cited in the plan.
As stated in the ACP plan, Footscray City College uses online curriculums throughout their various
faculties. The changing nature of the education system from pen and paper to computer based work
means that teachers must also gain skills in maintaining and creating online information. The online
curriculum was successfully transitioned from the old Google Site onto a newer version with all of the
necessary information copied across. The online curriculum is simple and easy to use for all teachers
and has already been utilised throughout my placement whilst teaching Running Wild. Working on this
ACP has helped me to establish a further base in varying aspects of teaching outside of the classroom,
such as content management and meeting set deadlines.

3. Comment on progress according to your Action Plan and advise of any changes to this plan and the reasons for
any changes.
For the most part I kept up with the action plan adequately and checked in regularly with Brendan to
ensure that I was doing the work correctly. The only problem that occurred was some confusion over
changed passwords and access to the schools resources that was out of both of our control. We did
manage to solve this issue quite quickly with a few emails back and forth to get the right access needed
on my account so I wasn’t reliant on knowing the student teacher account password which had been
changed. There was little change or deviation from the plan as it was quite simple and flexible.

4. Evaluate the success or otherwise of the outcomes with reference to the evaluation methodology described in
the plan.

The site is simple and easy to use, while definitely not as polished as some of the other sites in use at
the school the useability is still there. I would say that for someone who used this technology for the
first time and with plenty of assistance, that I managed to help produce an acceptable base site with
all of the content that visually could certainly be improved if necessary, but functionally is fine and
working.

Describe how each of the 5, or more, professional skills nominated in your plan were used / applied during the ACP.

Planning The planning for this ACP helped to establish the deadline and the manner in
which the task was completed. There was clear discussion before beginning the
task of what was required and when the ACP was to be completed by.

Negotiating

Project management

Problem solving When issues arose with the password and access to the site, communication
was clear and easy and as such the issues were fixed quickly and effectively.
This could have been a large problem for the project but was easily
circumvented through clear communication.

Team work

Time management The task was set out with a clear date that it needed to be done. In this case
before the beginning of Term 3 when the unit would begin. The task was
managed well and completed by the set deadline.
Evaluating I was constantly evaluating the site that I was working on with an exemplar site
as well as parts of the site that had been worked on already. By evaluating
against these I was able to ensure that there was uniformity across the site and
that it was being presented correctly.

Communicating
Researching

Reporting All throughout undertaking the ACP there was discussion and feedback back
and forth through emails over what had been done and whether these parts
were done correctly and adequately.

SECTION B: MENTOR TEACHER (FOR ACP) TO COMPLETE

1. Please comment on the professional skills displayed by the pre-service teacher in the completion of the project
[refer to Section A, item 5 above in your response - note that additional space can be added as required]. Were the
expected outcomes, as identified in the ACP Plan, met?

Michael worked effectively to transition the curriculum unit from the old Google Sites to the new sites. He effectively planned
the process of transitioning the site and worked to meet the due date required. He demonstrated communication, evaluation
and problem solving skills in emailing and checking with me throughout the project to ensure that it was being completed to
the school’s standard. He has help create/transition a resource which will be used by many teachers across the English
faculty and was able to effectively utilise the Google Site in his own teaching practice.

The expected outcomes in the ACP plan were met, with the resource being finalised before the Term 3 deadline.
