You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al

New York is a big city in the


United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is
New York (USA) – The Statue of Liberty
located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.
The Plaza de San Pedro is one
of the most beautiful and largest
squares in the world. It is located
in the Vatican, at the foot of the
Basilica of San Pedro. The most
impressive of the square, in
addition to its size, are the 284
columns and 88 pilasters that
line the square in a four-row
portico. At the top of the columns
there are 140 statues of saints
made in 1670 by Bernini's
disciples. In the center of the
square stands the obelisk and
the two fountains, one by Bernini
(1675) and the other by Maderno
(1614). The obelisk, 25 meters
Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square high, was brought to Rome from
Egypt in 1586

The Opera House in Sydney is a


building with a radically
innovative design, consisting of
a series of large prefabricated
shells, each taken from the
same hemisphere, which form
the roofs of the structure. The
installation presents a modern
expressionist design containing
five theaters, five rehearsal
studios, two main rooms, four
restaurants, six bars and
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera numerous souvenir shops.

Edinburgh Castle is an ancient
fortress erected on a rock of
volcanic origin. It is located in
the center of the city of
Edinburgh. It has been used for
military purposes since the
twelfth century, being used for
civil uses only in very recent
times. Three sides are protected
by steep cliffs. Access to the
castle is through the esplanade,
a large square paved and
inclined, the castle is entered by
a portal in front of the battery,
which leads to a path that climbs
right to the courtyard in the
Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle center of the fortress.

The Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower)


is the tallest building in the world
with a height of 828 meters. Its
design incorporates elements of
Islamic architecture, is inspired
by the Hymenocallis flower and
its modular structure is Y shaped
Next to the Burj Khalifa there is a
large artificial lake where the
Dubai Fountain is located, one of
the city's must-see attractions.
Around the lake you will find
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj bars and restaurants and, of
Khalifa course, the famous Dubai Mall.
