Connecting a Laptop to Wireless Network with File Sharing.

1. Make sure the wireless switch on the laptop is turned on. On this model, no wireless
switch is present.
2. Make sure that the wireless zero configuration service is started. To do that, click on
the Start button, click on Run and type services.msc then click ok. Look for Wireless
Zero Configuration from the list of services, and then double click it. The service status
of WZC should be started, if it is Stopped, Click on start, and then click OK.

3. Click on the Start button then go to control panel. If you are in the category view, click
on Network and Internet Connections, then Network Connections. If you are in the
Classic View, Just click on Network Connections.
4. Right click on Wireless Network Connection, and then go to Properties. Click on
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click on Properties.
5. Click on the radio button beside Use the following IP address, and fill up the fields with
these information:
6. Click OK to save changes.
7. Right again on Wireless Network Connection and click on View Available Wireless
Networks. A window will appear that will show the wireless networks in range. Look
for linksys, click on that, and then click on Connect.
8. If the linksys network is not security – enabled, it will connect to the wireless network.
If the network is protected by a WEP or WPA key, then a popup will appear requesting
you type the key.
9. For file sharing, right click on the folder you want to share on the network, then click on
Sharing and Security. Put a check mark on the box beside Share this Folder on the
Network. Change the Share Name if desired, and then click on Apply, then OK.
10. Open up My Network places on the other computer and check if the folder appears as
shared on the network.
