AMBIGARD is a two component acrylic polymer modified cementitious, anti-
corrosion, anti-carbonation, anti- crack and high flexible coating which consists of
powder and acrylic emulsion. It contains multiple complex migrating corrosion
inhibiting molecules (DiffuCIT – Diffusive Corrosion Inhibiting Technology) which
protects the steel against oxidation by direct contact or by migrating through the
concrete structures. Due to its high performance flexible property, it can simply be
applied by stiff brush, roller or trowel to obtain the desired thickness.

Uses:
AMBIGARD® is a high performance elastomeric cementitious coating used for
waterproofing and to protect atmospherically exposed reinforced concrete structures
from attack by acid gases, chloride ions, oxygen & water. AMBIGARD® is suitable
for all types of structures including those in coastal environments. The product can
be used on concrete, brick and block work substrates and is equally suitable for new
and existing structures. The product is designed to reface and even out variations in
concrete and masonry surfaces and bridge shrinkage cracks. It provides a seamless,
flexible waterproof coating suitable for water tanks, reservoirs, drainage culverts
basements, non-tower podiums and roofs. The product provides a tough durable
water resistant coating which has excellent weather resistance for exterior
applications.

Application Method:
1 Surface Preparation
o All surfaces must be sound, clean and free from loose mortar, dirt, dust, oil, grease
or any other particles using high pressure water jet or grit blasting or by proper

o Any surface undulations should be made good and any visible cracks should be
filled with pasty AMBIGARD® (10% less of Pack A liquid).Coving along wall-floor
joints, corners, edges and cracks having width more than 1mm shall be cut in V
grooves followed by filling Cement-sand mortar (1:4) admixed with D007 Durabuild
Acrylic Polymer @ 5-10% by weight of cement or any other Durabuild repair
mortars. Entire surface should be in saturated surface dry (SSD) condition prior to
application of AMBIGARD®. However, there should not be any puddles of water.
2 Mixing & Application

o AMBIGARD is supplied as a two pack system in the ratio 3:1 (3 parts
cementitious polymerized powder and 1 part liquid polymer). Pour the entire pack
A (liquid polymer) into a clean container. Add entire pack B (cementitious
polymerized powder) into the container gradually to avoid lump formation,
simultaneously mixing with a slow speed mechanical mixer (500 rpm) till smooth
brushable consistency is achieved.

o Apply the mixed material over the SSD surface with a suitable short stiff brush like

paint. The application of AMBIGARD should not be done at substrate
temperatures below 5°C; contact local Durabuild representative in such cases. If
the area is exposed and is more than 10 m², when the coating is wet glass fabric
shall be laid on the surface, ensuring that no air is entrapped. Apply the second
coat over the first coat after 4 to 7 hours at right angles ensuring a minimum
thickness of 1 mm (In case of application over glass fabric, second coat may be
applied after 24 hours). Areas subjected to moderate and heavy loads/hydrostatic
pressure, minimum 2mm thickness coating is recommended with screed above.

o Moist curing must be done after 10 hrs for 48 hrs. Henceforth, allow the system to
air cure for 3-4 days protecting it from rain, strong winds or direct sunlight. Conduct
ponding test by filling water up to 50 mm height for 48 hours to ensure leak-free
terrace It is advisable to protect the coating with 1:6 Cement / Sand 12-15 mm
thick plaster with desired slope to avoid film from getting damaged. Traffic or water
immersion maybe done after 2-3 days.

Precautions and Limitations:

o All corners, gaps, joints, protrusions & outlets shall be coated with two extra coats
and sealed with polymer modified coving all around.
o Do not apply during heavy sunshine, rains; or strong winds.

o Substrate MUST be in SSD condition for application of AMBIGARD .
o The product shall be protected from any damages by suitable means.
o Clean the tools with water immediately after use.

Protective Clothing: AMBIGARD is non-toxic but alkaline in nature. Necessary AMBIGARD®
protective clothing like dust mask, gloves, goggles must be worn. CODE: D020
o Skin Contact: Wash skin with soap & water. Remove contaminated clothes.
o Eye contact: Immediately splash eyes with plenty of water. Consult Physician if
irritation persists.
o Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Call a Physician.
